66 GREENE TURNS ONE

One year after opening its doors in SoHo, 66 GREENE celebrated its first anniversary during New York Fashion Week with the launch of its debut print issue, a new fragrance, and a packed night of collaborators, creatives, and friends. What began as a space became a world of its own, and on September 10, New York showed up to celebrate it.

On Thursday, September 10, New York Fashion Week kicked off and 66 GREENE turned one. Exactly a year after launching a publication in SoHo, the space celebrated the only way that really made sense: a private dinner for 42, the introduction of a new fragrance, the launch of its first-ever print issue, and 300-plus people descending on Greene Street.

The night started intimately. Forty-two of 66 GREENE’s closest collaborators, friends and partners gathered for dinner inside the space, surrounded by an almost absurd number of candles burning MEMORY By Alexander, the forthcoming fragrance from founder By Alexander. It was the first time anyone outside of the team had experienced the scent, a soft launch that unfolded naturally over dinner as guests smelled, tested and lived with it throughout the room.

Hennessy kept glasses full from the first course onward, with custom cocktails at dinner giving way to a full bar as the night picked up speed. Daniel Villa scored the atmosphere with a mixture of evocative synths and layered saxophones.

And outside, a crowd was already forming.

By the time dinner wrapped, more than 300 people were ready to come through the doors. What had been a quiet room an hour earlier quickly became a cross-section of New York’s young creative community: designers, musicians, photographers, artists, friends and familiar faces from a year spent building things together. Vvutura, a trusted collaborator of the brand, soundtracked the entire night. Ayra Starr came through, danced, and got her hands on a copy of the magazine with her face on the cover.

After a year of documenting the people shaping contemporary culture through editorials, performances and the constantly changing world inside 66 Greene Street, 66 GREENE finally put it on paper. ISSUE 01 is the publication’s first print edition, released with three covers featuring Ayra Starr, Tinashe and Alexander Grant.

There’s something different about seeing a year of work stacked in physical copies around the same room where so much of it happened. What began as an idea for a space in SoHo now had a magazine you could hold, a fragrance you could smell, and a few hundred people packed inside celebrating both.

Exactly 365 days after opening, the night felt less like an anniversary and more like 66 GREENE hitting its stride. The first year was about building the world. September 10 was the moment it started to feel real.

And New York showed up for it.
